if youre not in school anymore and are looking for ways to get out of the house more go to the nearest “hip” coffee shop you can that has a bulletin board with flyers on it for local events and attend any and all the ones youre able to ESPECIALLY if they’re free. this is the only actionable advice that has worked for me
lots of very good suggestions for other places to find community events in the notes, including but not limited to:
libraries, parks, rec centers, and other public amenities
craft/game/hobby specialty stores or event spaces
bars or similar venues
I know I said “if you’re not in school anymore” cause that’s me right now, but if a college/uni campus doesn’t have security requiring a student ID to get in, nothing is stopping you from just Hanging Out on the campus even if you’re not a student there lol. I do it all the time and there are flyers abound
literally just on a wall or telephone pole outside
if the only coffee shop around is starbucks, ime even Some starbucks locations have these kind of bulletin boards in them (not the drive thru ones obv). and no, you don’t have to order anything from the starbucks
instagram and facebook too unfortunately. i know i know i hate them too
also I know that it can be kind of scary or awkward to attend any events you find by yourself. thats ok though. nobody is going to hate you or think you’re weird if you don’t bring a plus one. go my scarab
complimented a cashier on her turtle pin this morning and she said “oh thanks, I am a little bit of a Turtle Person” with the carefully contained energy of Cookie Monster telling you he’s mildly fond of chocolate chips
